About

Hailing from North London, Kleo’s (Kleo Kleanthous) reputation for powerful underground dance music, continues to grow apace. A lifelong lover of all music, he was teaching himself guitar, when he 1st ventured into the underground dance scene in 1990, that was then rapidly traded-in, for some vinyl decks.

Influenced by all kinds of producers and DJs, he has been honing the deep, bright, tight and melodic style, for which he has become known for. Kleo plays a variety of styles, ranging from the more electric side of deep house and vocal tracks, through to techno and more acidic tinged. What began as just a personal passion, became increasingly absorbing, to the point, where he started selling his own underground mix tapes, on his own record and tape stall for two decades, in Camden Market (London), amid a blitz of drum & bass, rave and trance sellers.

Kleo has been breaking fresh tunes and spreading the sounds of London tech house, around the world, since the 1990s. As the scene grew, he ‘graduated’ in 1996, from private parties, to his 1st residency at the notorious Bar Vinyl Saturday night (the 1st club-like bar in London to have DJs), followed shortly by a weekly residency at Digit in Brighton. There he was regularly joined by talents like Eddie Richards, Terry Francis, Richard Grey, and Colin Dale. Also did a monthly resident at Heroine party (333 Club), often alongside Clive Henry (Peace Division), the Rescue Recordings parties at the AKA Bar in London, and the occasional NW1 underground warehouse parties.

In 2004, his mix titled Kleo (Kleek Recordings), Worldwide FM (Foot Therapy) wwfm.co.uk, November 2003, was a fine example, of what a definitive London tech house mix might be… flawless, varied, never letting-up and an amazing journey.

Has also done a course in audio engineering and music production, and built his own studio, as well as helping establish and promote the Rescue Recordings label.

Around 2018 he is now in Australia, and continues to DJ and make music under his own Kleek Recordings label.
