About

Seafoam (Brian Cavender) has been writing electronic music since 1994, and is currently based in Denver, Colorado, United States. Early works were strictly techno oriented. All of Seafoam’s early works stayed in the studio, as he learned to master the craft of electronic music.

After a few live P.A.’s [live personal appearance], then turned his attention to the house music scene. After relocating to Seattle in 1996, he decided to explore house music. Starting with the basics, and listening to influential labels such as Global Communication, House of 909, and the album Doing It by Housey Doingz. He then knew his music was heading in the right direction. And subsequently released music on labels such as Guidance Recordings, SLOW LIFE, Rue De Plaisance and OM Records, to name a few.

After releasing a 1-off 12″ in 1999, on the small Denver label Stretch 2 Activate. Seafoam quickly found his way with the Guidance Recordings family, by way of gatherings at Miami’s Winter Music Conference in 1999. A string of 2, 12″ on Guidance Recordings, from 2000–2003, cemented his legacy early. Then 2 on San Francisco label Lo-Rise Recordings, in 2002 and 2004.

He is also a partner with Josh Ivy in the group Strawberry Fish, who created the Scumbucket EP in 2006, on Dope Recordings.

The label Rue De Plaisance Re-issue in 2018 asked Brian for music, who sent the label a folder named Collected Works 1999–2005, of music made around 1995–2000. When the label listened to the tracks, they realised the music was created in the past, but still sounded super fresh, and so were more than happy to rerelease. Full of inspiration, seemingly untouched by the passage of time, led to hunkering down in the studio, with a steady release schedule.

In addition to his house productions, today Seafoam is working on more ambient soundscapes, and is a drummer, who utilises a lot of his own live percussion, in much of his music. His music… is… simply… long lasting and timeless…
