Ladies On Records is a carefully curated endeavour, to represent women’s contribution to global and local music, of past decades, telling the stories of women, by the music they created. Our mission is to reshape and improve understanding and knowledge of female music, from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, from all over the world, to make it discoverable and appreciated again, to a global audience. It sheds new light on female creation in music, and exposes unspoken, forgotten or neglected cultural, political, and aesthetic patterns. Our main goal is to tell the stories of female artists, from the past in a new, contemporary way.

They work as a curatorial venture especially around dusty old records and tapes, in the hidden archives and back catalogs, of the music labels from around the world. Specialising in music compilations released both in physical and digital medias. And also in creating mixes, playing DJ sessions, and writing stories.

Run by Kornelia Binicewicz a Polish origin record collector, DJ and anthropologist of culture, who currently lives in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2015, she moved to Istanbul to explore female music from Turkey, and the Middle East. Day-to-day she lives on an island near Istanbul. She travels all around the world in search of mesmerising music and meaningful musical stories to tell.

Their initiative Sound Postcards from Turkey, are designed as podcasts to a series of texts for Kaleydoskop – Turchia, Cultura e Società an online art, film, photography, music, poetry and writing magazine, based in Naples, Italy. Every month she delivers a new short podcast, that reveals the unknown contexts and journeys behind the songs performed by a Turkish female singer.

She created Polish Women Revolution Tapes to show their solidarity commitment with the female warriors (women) from Poland, and all around the world.
