About
Steve Sim (also known as Steb Sly) has been producing electronic music for close to 30+ years. From his humble beginnings in the early 1980s, living outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, making pause tapes [use of a boombox or stereo with dual cassette decks, aspiring DJs and producers would play and record a sample from another tape or record, pausing the tape, once the sample had finished its rotation]. Steb Sly has always been fascinated, by sounds, how to create them and dabbling with them.
While most of his friends, were getting their 1st set of drums, or learning the guitar, Steb Sly was learning how to use drum machines and samplers, while experimenting on his trusty Commodore 64.
Has been making electronic music since the late 1980s, house and techno electronic music producer since 1993, and renowned video game sound designer since 1997.
With vinyl releases on several respected labels such as Red Ember Records, 240 Volts, and Metamorphic Recordings, Steb Sly is no slouch.
Also writes music as a game sound designer for Alberta-based BioWare. Making sound effects for hit video game titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and the popular expansion pack for Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide. With 6 titles currently under his belt, for several high profile publishers including Microsoft, THQ, Sega, Atari, and Lucasarts (that included the occasional 18 hour day, to get that next title out the door sounding great!).
2024 see his 1st full length album called Arthrology, with acidic focuses.
